Using the Express Checkout

First—Scan Your Library Card

Touch the screen to begin.  Each library card has a barcode on the front.  Hold your card under the barcode reader to the left of the screen until the laser scanner reads your barcode.  The laser appears as a horizontal line of red light.  This line must pass over your barcode for your card to be accepted.

Second—Check Your Books Out

After your library card has accepted, pass your materials—one piece at a time—over the front deck of the reader.    When your book has been scanned, its title will appear on the left half of the screen.  If after several passes, the book does not scan, you will have to check this one out at the Circulation Desk.  When you have scanned all your items, touch the “Done” button on the screen.

Third—Take Your Receipt

Once you have finished scanning your books and pressed “Done,”  the unit will print your receipt.  Take this and you are ready to leave.  If an error has been made, the bell will sound as you approach the exit.  If this happens, please return to the Circulation Desk, and they will assist you.
