Unattended Conveyances Policy

Service Policy 415

Revised:     May 19, 2009

To promote the safety of all people using the library as well as the security of the items involved, all unattended conveyances must be properly secured while on library property.

Motorized vehicles including automobiles, motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters must be parked in a marked parking space in the parking lot.  Motorized wheelchairs or assist vehicles not used inside the building must also be placed in a regular parking space.

Bikes, strollers, jogging strollers, scooters, wagons, tricycles or big wheels must be placed in the bike rack or in the bike rack area upon arrival at the library.  Skateboards can be handed to the person at either the youth desk or the checkout desk for temporary storage.

Any of these items or conveyances that are left unattended may be moved to the bike rack area or other proper space and secured with a bike lock if at all possible.  Skateboards will be put behind the youth desk or the checkout desk.  Skateboards, rollerblades, and wheelies may not be used in the library.

Upon request by the owner, the library staff will unlock the bike lock.  A fine will be assessed before a lock is unlocked by the staff.

The Library Board strongly recommends that all owners of conveyances described above properly secure their property or in the case of strollers or skateboards, keep them close by when using the library.
