The library offers free
Books by Mail service for the homebound. Registration forms
and information are available at the Check Out Desk. Call

Computer Area
|
SLDL offers
sixteen general use computers in the General Collection for those over the age of
seventeen to browse the internet or use the Microsoft Office XP software
suite. Feel free to scan photographs
or print (at ten cents per page) in this area.

Atlas Collection
|

|
Take a look at our collection of Atlases, maps, and Plat
surveys. The Atlas Collection is
located outside the Technology Lab and is available for your use.

Baird
Program Rooms
|

|
The Warner
and Julia Baird Program Room can accommodate larger groups for presentations
or meetings. It can be separated into
two smaller rooms each with its own sound and projection systems. A
Telecoil loop is in place
to assist the hearing impared. |

Center
|
Located
behind the Reference Desk, the
Career
Center is a
collection of materials to aid you in deciding a career, or career
change. College choices and financial
aid help is also available in this section.

Copying,
Printing, Faxing, and Scanning
|

SLDL has three color laserjet printers,
four flatbed scanners, one film and slide scanner, a fax machine, one color
copier, and three B/W copy machines available throughout the
library for patron use.
Printer and B/W copier:
$.10/page.
Color Copier:
$1.00/page.
Fax: $2.00 for first page,
$1.00/additional page. Outgoing faxes only. Faxes cannot be
received at the library.
Scanners: Free of charge.

Financial
Center
|
The library has subscriptions to
Morningstar
Ratings and Reports, as well as many other financial publications. Take a look at them in printed form or
online in the adjacent Adult Computer Area.

Great Lakes Marine Collection
|

|
Spring
Lake hosts a
rare and interesting collection of Great Lakes Shipping material, including
“Know Your Ships,” the “Interlake Carriers Association Bulletin,” “Inland
Seas - the
official bulletin of the Great Lakes Historical Society”, and much more. The collection was created and is
maintained by Jerry Walters, author of the Ship’s Log column in the Grand Haven
Tribune. Take a look at the titles in the Collection by clicking
here or on the picture at the left.

Local
History Room
|
The
Local History Room is available for browsing through some of the older documents
we have at the library. It affords a more private area where fragile
documents can be laid out for easier viewing. This room is also available for small
meetings.

Microfiche Reader
|

A Microfiche viewing machine is available
in the General Collection area.

Print
Enlarger
|
Do you
have an old document that is hard to read?
Perhaps you have a contract with extremely fine print. Maybe you just have a favorite book, but can’t
read the text. If so, please take
advantage of our Aladdin Print Enlarger, located in the General Collection
area.

Study
Rooms
|

The
library has two study rooms available for public use. If you need to take a test, conduct a small
meeting, or just need some privacy – you may want to use one of these. They
are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are located near the
Circulation Desk. |

Technology
Lab
|

|
Do you
want to take a class? Would you like to
teach a class? Perhaps you need to do
some employee training. SLDL’s Technology lab offers six workstations and one
administrator station, complete with internet access and the Microsoft Office
XP Suite. Scanning and printing are
available, here, as well as an interactive Smartboard
– a wall mounted touchscreen, invaluable as a
teaching tool. |

Youth
Computer Area
|
The
library teens and youths computer access, as well. Eight PCs are set up with internet access, the
Microsoft Office XP Suite, and even some games. The Youth Computer area is located in the
Youth Services section of the library.
