The Spring Lake District Library will be hosting the 15th annual Blizzard of Books reading club from January 2, 2008, to March 29, 2008. Participants must be high school age or older. Sign in at the Check Out Desk to receive your book club card. All books read must be checked out from the Spring Lake District Library and must be from the teen fiction or adult fiction or non-fiction sections. Paperbacks and unabridged books on tape are acceptable. Participants may choose 2 e-books or mp3 audio books downloaded from www.sllib.org per card. Attend The Nick Adams Stories Community Book Discussion with Dr. Ivo Soljan on Feb. 25, the “Hemingway: The Early Years” presentation by Dr. Suzanne del Gizzo on March 18, at the Spring Lake District Library or Hemingway on Stage at the GHHS Performing Arts Center on March 12, and receive credit for reading one book. Attend all three and get credit for reading three books. All of the events begin at 7:00 p.m. Books must be checked out, read, and returned between January 2 and March 29. Members must present their book club card for stamps to get credit for prizes. The last day to get stamps is Saturday, March 29. Participants who read 5 books will have their choices of prizes from the Prize Potpourri which includes a variety of prizes. Some example of prizes you may earn for reading 5 books are:
You may also enter the Grand Prize Drawing. Grand Prizes include three Entertainment Coupon Books, Dinner for Two at Jack’s Restaurant, three $20 Bookman gift certificates, a teapot and mug set. Those who read 10 books will earn a book bag and may enter the Grand Prize drawing twice. Members may complete additional book club cards for additional prizes.
